AEW Dynamite saw the end of a three-month wait to see where Jeff Hardy would land following his WWE departure, reuniting with his brother Matt once again. His arrival adds another veteran to the mix, joining the likes of CM Punk, Bryan Danielson and Sting among others.
The expansive nature of the roster has become a talking point in the industry, with former WWE writer Vince Russo discussing his own concerns on Vince Russo's The Brand. He spoke on the addition of Jeff and how his arrival may make it harder for those younger and further down the card.
''There are so many people signing with this company, I pulled up an AEW roster page yesterday there may have been 150 people on this thing. I don't know what Tony Khan is going to do with all these people. But Jeff Hardy, another veteran added to the roster and my concern is if you keep putting these veterans on top how are these young wrestlers going to get an opportunity if they can't get on the show." Vince Russo speaks highly of AEW star Jungle Boy
One of the younger stars in AEW that sticks out to Russo is one half of the tag champs, Jungle Boy. The veteran attributed good looks as one of Jungle Boy's selling points, believing him to be marketable to the female audience.
Russo also alluded to Jungle Boy's status as the son of Luke Perry, an actor who starred in both Riverdale and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood before passing away in 2019, as a sign of star quality.
The former WCW World Heavyweight Champion did however concede that there was a need for character development for Jungle Boy.
"This kid has matinee idol looks, this is a handsome young kid, this kid is going to be over huge with the women, the son of Luke Perry. I think there needs to be a little bit more meat to his character than just Jungle Boy because he's got long hair and he looks like Jungle Boy, bro come on we gotta do better than that." (9:13-9:43)
