WWE has seen many talents leave the company and join AEW in recent years. While several active in-ring stars have jumped ship, important personalities and backstage people have switched promotions too. In light of this, fans have had much to say about former SmackDown commentator Mauro Ranallo potentially joining All Elite Wrestling.

Mauro Ranallo joined the Stamford-based company in 2015 as an announcer for the blue brand. He was dubbed "The Voice of SmackDown," having several commentary partners during his time like Jerry Lawler, Byron Saxton, Michael Cole, Tom Phillips, David Otunga, and John "Bradshaw" Layfield.

He was absent from WWE commentary starting from the March 14, 2017, episode of SmackDown. He also missed WrestleMania 33 with the reason cited as the North American blizzard. He eventually departed the company, rejoining on June 22, 2017. It was confirmed that he would join NXT as their lead commentator after mutually coming to new terms on a new contract agreement with promotion.

Mauro Ranallo left the company again in 2020 and was the commentator for IMPACT Wrestling's Rebellion 2021 pay-per-view match between Rich Swann and Kenny Omega. With AEW Collision set to debut on June 17, 2023, fans have speculated if Ranallo could show up in the Jacksonville-based company.

Mauro Ranallo admitted that his return to pro-wrestling at IMPACT Wrestling: Rebellion 2021 was an emotional experience.

In an interview in 2021, the former WWE NXT announcer revealed that he hoped to be back soon to be a commentator full-time.

"A big thank you to my friend Scott D'Amore and everyone at Impact Wrestling for making me feel so welcome. It reminded me. honestly, of when I started my career at 16. Yeah, last night reignited my passion for professional wrestling," Ranallo said. [H/T - Comicbook]

He continued:

"I thought everyone delivered and from what I understand, the pay-per-view is getting rave reviews, and even more importantly, the pay-per-view buyrate should be one of the best that Impact Wrestling has done in some time. Yeah, it was great to see so many familiar faces and I do hope to get to do it again."

AEW boasts of several experienced commentators like Jim Ross, Taz, and Tony Schiavone. The potential addition of Mauro Ranallo will be quite interesting to see.
