A major broadcasting error took place during this week's episode of AEW Dynamite. The blunder related to a major singles match set for Grand Slam 2024.

Bryan Danielson became the AEW World Champion by beating Swerve Strickland at All In 2024. He defended the belt successfully against Jack Perry at All Out 2024 but suffered a shocking betrayal from his BCC stablemates Claudio Castagnoli and Jon Moxley afterward.

The Purveyor of Violence later claimed that Danielson would be unable to wrestle Darby Allin for the world title at Dynamite: Grand Slam 2024 and challenged the former TNT Champion to put his World Championship opportunity on the line against him at the event instead. Danielson's former ROH rival and All Elite announcer Nigel McGuinness used the chance to speak to Tony Khan and confirm a contract for a singles bout against The American Dragon on Grand Slam.

The September 18, 2024, episode of Wednesday Night Dynamite was set to air a video package recounting Bryan Danielson's iconic rivalry with Nigel McGuinness in ROH. Unfortunately, the broadcast initially suffered from technical difficulties, which caused issues with airing the package, forcing the commentary team to address it live.

AEW did not take long to successfully play the video package hyping up Danielson's upcoming bout with McGuinness. The clip featured multiple former ROH talent, including Mark Briscoe and Roderick Strong, who are currently signed with All Elite Wrestling.
