An AEW star shares a post on social media after being absent from the promotion for over a year due to maternity leave. The star being discussed is Tay Melo.
Melo is a former WWE Superstar who worked with the company from 2016 to 2020. During her time in the Stamford-based promotion, she wrestled on the NXT brand. The 28-year-old star has been a top star since arriving in the Jacksonville-based promotion in 2020. She and Anna Jay teamed up in the initial stage of their run. She is the wife of popular star Sammy Guevara.
Tay's last AEW match occurred in January 2023, when she and Anna Jay lost to Ruby Soho and Willow Nightingale. Since then, she has been absent due to her pregnancy. She gave birth to a daughter in November 2023. The couple has been active on social media and occasionally posts pictures of themselves and their daughter.
Tay Melo recently took to Instagram and shared a clip of training in the squared circle. It seems like the star is getting ready to make her in-ring return after more than a year.
"I'm unstoppable today. Step by step & respecting my limits," she wrote.
Jim Cornette criticized an AEW segment featuring Tay Melo
At the 2023 Double or Nothing Pay-Per-View, Tay announced she was pregnant.
Speaking on the Drive-Thru podcast, the veteran claimed that they were top heels prior to the announcement. However, as per Cornette, the duo was thrilled during their proclamation, which broke their character.
"Who gives a sh*t? She’s the one that turned him heel in the first place. Because she has that incredible heat-getting b**ch face. And now they are supposed to be a happy couple, having a blessed event, he’s supposed to be a … she’ll turn him heel again in two weeks if she hangs around him. People need to forget she’s around if he’s going to be a babyface," Jim Cornette said.
Neither she nor AEW has made an official announcement regarding her return schedule.
