A former WWE star recently raised a major issue with the structure of AEW programming. According to him, All Elite President Tony Khan needs to overhaul how matches and fights are booked drastically.
Apart from the World Championship belt in AEW, the roster has several other titles to fight for. The company has rarely placed much stock in storytelling, preferring to put up marquee matches instead. This is often achieved with the help of the titles, which EC3, for one, thinks are overused.
On Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Outlaws, the former WWE 24/7 Champion talked about how plots could be crafted organically instead. He said:
"What are we doing? I don't know. The only thing I know is that I don't know anything. But from the booking and producing things to avoid titles, 'cause those are easy and they are props, I don't know, maybe Vince (Russo) can agree, you make things up to fight for. Or the circumstances that fighting results in something. And sometimes it's dumb." [7:03 onwards]

EC3 thinks there are too many titles in WWE as well
According to EC3, the addition of the Women's Intercontinental and United States titles to the Stamford-based promotion is unnecessary.
Speaking on the same episode of Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Outlaws, EC3 said that even his 24/7 title wins in the company did not mean much at this point. He stated:
"I think there are far too many titles in wrestling. I think WWE is not the only guilty party. I think it's AEW, NWA, TNA, everybody has too many. As a person who has had championships, we mentioned earlier, 'Oh, 3-time world champion.' Like being the world champion in those respective companies meant something. But then I remember being, 'He is a 4-time WWE 24/7 champion.' Don't say that because that doesn't mean sh*t." [2:30 onwards]
It remains to be seen how the company will handle these two titles in the future.
