Kenny Omega is undoubtedly one of AEW's biggest attractions. He is not only the company's star performer but also its Executive Vice President. Unfortunately, The Cleaner is currently out of action due to health issues.

The former AEW World Champion has been battling diverticulitis for the past few months. A person who suffers from this condition gets inflammation in their digestive tract. This leads to severe pain in the abdomen, nausea, fever, and more. Reports suggest that the 40-year-old was in agony backstage during an AEW show in Arlington, Texas, in December 2023. The former champion was soon rushed to the hospital, and it was there that he learned about his situation.

Thankfully, due to a timely diagnosis, Omega managed to avoid disaster. Furthermore, he underwent surgery in New York earlier this year and is now on the road to recovery. Popular journalist Sean Ross Sapp recently gave an update on the AEW star's in-ring return status on the Fightful Select podcast.

Sapp revealed that Omega won't be back anytime soon because the latter is going to take a considerable amount of time to be 100 percent fit.

"Not expected back in the coming months or anything like that. He [Kenny Omega] did have the surgery in order to check how things were progressing. This was something completely unforeseen. But knowing Kenny, he has got to heal up, get in shape, and then get into ring shape as well," he said.
