Adam Copeland (fka Edge) is undoubtedly one of AEW's biggest stars. However, his time in the WWE was nothing short of historic. The 50-year-old made his debut in the Tony Khan-led company in 2023 and has so far managed to win the TNT Championship, twice.
Unfortunately, Copeland got injured earlier this year and has been sidelined from in-ring action. During his Barbed Wire Steel Cage Match against Malakai Black, at Double or Nothing, The Rated-R Superstar fractured his tibia. This resulted in AEW Executive Vice Presidents The Young Bucks stripping him of the TNT Title.
At the moment, Adam Copeland's comeback timeline is unknown. It usually takes four to six months to make a complete recovery from a leg fracture. However, as of this writing, AEW or any other source has not provided an update on Copland's return.
Interestingly, there is a possibility that Copeland might not return to AEW alone. He could be joined by his real-life wife and WWE Hall of Famer Beth Phoenix.
Adam Copeland's wife, Beth Phoenix, is not signed with the WWE anymore
Recent reports suggest that The Glamazon is no longer under contract with the Stamford-based company.
Since AEW's inception, several prominent former WWE names have switched over to the Jacksonville-based promotion. Some of them include Copeland, PAC, Samoa Joe, Malakai Black, Mercedes Moné, Bryan Danielson, Jon Moxley, and more. Additionally, these names have been a hit in the company and this could motivate Phoenix to follow suit.
Interestingly, if the former Divas Champion does show up in AEW, she won't be able to use the name "Beth Phoenix," since it is owned by the WWE. However, just like her husband, the star can use her real name, Beth Copeland.
Beth Phoenix is still in great shape
Once upon a time, Phoenix was one of the strongest in-ring competitors. During her heyday, her feats of strength were at times baffling and fans thoroughly enjoyed watching her perform in the ring.
According to a new report from Fightful Select, the 43-year-old is still in impeccable shape and if she wanted to, she could easily make an in-ring return. And what better stage than AEW for Beth to showcase her talents?
The Tony Khan-led promotion has many popular and highly skilled female stars such as Mercedes Moné, Britt Baker, Toni Storm, Jamie Hayter, Saraya, and more. A showdown between Phoenix and any of these women, individually or together is sure to steal the show.
Beth Phoenix and Adam Copeland could perform as a mixed tag team in AEW
Adam Copeland and Beth Phoenix have been married since 2016. Interestingly, the couple has also competed in the ring together, in some mixed tag team matches.
At Royal Rumble 2022, Edge and Beth Phoenix battled The Miz and Maryse in a mixed tag team match and emerged victorious. A year later, they faced The Judgement Day's Finn Bálor and Rhea Ripley at Elimination Chamber and triumphed in this showdown as well.
Copeland and Phoenix could continue their in-ring partnership in AEW and maybe, popularise mixed tag team action in the company.
