Will Ospreay lost his AEW International Championship tonight at WrestleDream due to a heartbreaking betrayal from a long-time friend. Kyle Fletcher turned his back on The Aerial Assassin in a huge twist.

In NJPW, Ospreay and Fletcher were members of the United Empire. They later reunited in AEW as members of the Don Callis Family. Tonight, the 31-year-old put his title on the line against Ricochet and Konosuke Takeshita. Don Callis was on commentary to support The Alpha. It was a show-stealing contest, with all three men coming close to capturing the gold on multiple occasions.
At a crucial juncture in the match, it seemed like Will Ospreay would retain his title. However, Callis got involved and pulled the referee out of the ring. With no official present, the veteran got a screwdriver and threatened to strike Ospreay. The Aerial Assassin retaliated, but in the end, he was blindsided by Kyle Fletcher.

Fletcher used the screwdriver to assault Ospreay, allowing Takeshita to hit him with a knee strike to secure the title. To add insult to injury, Fletcher hit Will Ospreay with a Tiger Driver 91 before leaving the ring with the new champion. This has given the International Championship storyline a big turn.

Enzo is a Pro Wrestling journalist at Sportskeeda, reporting on AEW. He is currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Multimedia Studies, which influenced his decision of taking up sports writing professionally, and has been an avid fan of the athletic theater since childhood. He believes readers deserve authentic and unique content and aims to report in a manner which pro wrestling fans can easily relate to.
Growing up, Enzo admired former world champions like AJ Styles, Will Ospreay, Bryan Danielson, Triple H, and Randy Orton for their finishing moves. As an adult, he started to appreciate their character work, as they juggled between heel and babyface gimmicks.
If allowed to produce one final storyline involving his idols, he would have Orton lock horns with John Cena, would be their one last big feud as both of them seem to be approaching the tail end of their careers.
Other than pro wrestling, Enzo enjoys keeping up with Basketball, Football, and Formula One. He also loves watching films, playing video games, and listening to music.
