Will Ospreay reacts as AEW announces rematch after 15 years between "two super influential legends"

AEW International Champion Will Ospreay has expressed his excitement about an upcoming rematch between two veterans at Grand Slam 2024. Ospreay is also set to compete on the show.

On AEW Dynamite this past Wednesday, Nigel McGuinness finally challenged Bryan Danielson to a match after several months of build-up. McGuinness and Danielson have had several classic bouts in Ring of Honor. The two last locked horns in 2009.

Nigel McGuinness made his surprise in-ring return after over a decade during the Casino Gauntlet Match at All In 2024. Meanwhile, one of the most anticipated rematches has been made official for Grand Slam two weeks from now. Although The American Dragon is the AEW World Champion, his match with McGuinness is slated to be a non-title showdown as of now.

Along with wrestling fans worldwide, AEW International Champion Will Ospreay is also excited about Bryan Danielson vs. Nigel McGuinness at Grand Slam 2024. On X/Twitter, The Aerial Assassin highlighted how the two legends paved the way for modern-day pro wrestlers.

"One thing I just wanna scream right now but it’s way too cool. I am going to [be] on the same card with Bryan Danielson vs. Nigel McGuinness. That’s wild!! New York is getting two super influential legends that paved the way for so many of us."

Will Ospreay is set for a title match at Grand Slam

On Dynamite this week, Will Ospreay teamed up with Kyle Fletcher for the Casino Gauntlet Tag Team Match. Ospreay and Fletcher managed to win the bout and will now challenge The Young Bucks for the AEW World Tag Team Championship at Grand Slam.

It remains to be seen whether Ospreay and Fletcher manage to capture tag team gold at Grand Slam.
