A wrestling veteran recently addressed the possibility of Shane McMahon purchasing AEW from Tony Khan. The name in question is none other than Vince Russo.
Some feel Shane McMahon has a great mind for professional wrestling, whether it's inside the ring or in the office. The veteran knows how to book wrestling shows and has helped his father and former WWE President, Vince McMahon, in creative. Shane was also the commissioner of SmackDown Live from 2016 to 2018. The Prodigal Son was last seen at last year's WrestleMania, where he tore his quadriceps at the beginning of his match against The Miz.
Speaking in an exclusive chat on Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Outlaws podcast, former WWE Head Writer Vince Russo claimed that Vince McMahon could force Shane McMahon to buy the Jacksonville-based promotion from Tony Khan.
Vince stated:
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
"Triple H is married to Stephanie [McMahon], Shane's [McMahon] got nothing to do with that company. Bro, nobody is gonna go in business with Vince McMahon. Nobody. However, Shane McMahon is as clean as a whistle. He's got nothing to do with the new company, he's got nothing to do with the WWE, Vince [McMahon] is cashing out all this stock. You don't think Vince [McMahon] is behind Shane [McMahon] fishing around at AEW? [7:38-8:09]
The WCW veteran continued:
"Chris, I understand that but, you also had brother-in-law [Triple H] go out at WrestleMania, 'It's a new Era!' You had sister, 'This is the Era of Triple H!' Bro, they're burying your dad and you don't think there aren't issues with Shane, Hunter, and Stephanie to begin with? Bro, I hear what you're saying Chris, but I think a lot has changed." Jim Ross recently spoke about Shane McMahon potentially signing with AEW
WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross recently brought up the possibility of Shane O' Mac joining AEW and working with Tony Khan. On his Grilling JR podcast, Ross claimed that Shane coming to All Elite Wrestling might work creatively, however he also made it clear that it only depends on Shane's decision.
"Yeah, it would. It’s so crazy that it might work, depending on how it was positioned and how it was introduced. Shane called me the other day, he’s called me two or three times, which I really appreciate. He’s always been sensitive in that respect. That’s only a question that Shane could answer. Shane and Tony Khan being together, how would that work creatively, heck, who knows? Might be great. But in any event, that all depends on Shane and what he wants to do," said Ross.
Shane McMahon has stayed quiet on the ongoing rumors of his potential AEW arrival. It will be interesting to see if the former Hardcore Champion breaks silence in the coming weeks.
