Toni Storm's apparent re-debut in AEW is one of the Tony Khan-led promotion's more compelling recent storylines, according to many viewers. Wrestling veteran and commentator Tony Schiavone recently talked about The Illustrious One in glowing terms.
Months after losing her AEW Women's World Championship to her former understudy and ally Mariah May at All In 2024, the formerly Timeless One came back to All Elite programming after The Glamour's successful title defense against Mina Shirakawa on Dynamite: Winter is Coming.
Storm has evidently decided to improve on her character work by attempting to reinvent her persona once again. The 29-year-old star has presented herself as a plucky underdog debutant with no recollection of her earlier two-year stint in the promotion since her 2022 signing. This was established clearly on television when Storm introduced herself, supposedly for the first time, to former tag partner and noted rival Thunder Rosa in front of AEW announcer Tony Schiavone on Collision.
Schiavone was all praise for Toni Storm on a recent edition his What Happened When podcast, voicing appreciation of her work and complimenting her as a person.
A top AEW star just called one of his colleagues 'spoiled' and 'narcissistic' HERE.
“Toni is probably top five of the best women wrestlers, one of the best women wrestlers I’ve ever seen, as far as her in-ring work too. She is absolutely killing it. Toni Storm is a quality person that you want to see prosper, want to see get ahead," Schiavone said. [H/T - Fightful]
Storm's performance as The Timeless One garnered her a major accolade recently, alongside a top WWE NXT superstar.
Adam Cole comments on former AEW Women's Champion Toni Storm
Mariah May's heartbreaking betrayal of Toni Storm has been widely regarded as one of AEW's best angles so far. However, fans of the promotion were not as impressed with how a similar storyline involving Adam Cole and MJF - with the former turning on the latter at Worlds End 2023 - was finally executed and possibly concluded at Worlds End 2024.
Cole, who is no stranger to treachery in the world of pro wrestling, seemed to be able to empathize with Toni Storm during a recent interview with Going Ringside. The Panama City Playboy stated:
“I don’t know what’s going on with Toni Storm. Clearly, she went through a very traumatic thing, so maybe she’s trying to process all of that. Yeah, I don’t know, I hope Toni Storm figures out what is going on with Toni Storm soon because she’s very talented.” [H/T - Fightful]
Unfortunately, Cole failed in his quest to beat MJF for his Dynamite Diamond Ring at Worlds End, although he did reunite with his long-time allies instead. On the other hand, Storm was victorious in her Zero-Hour match ahead of the pay-per-view against Leila Grey.
