A wrestling veteran who had a brief stint during the WWE's attitude era has announced that Jon Moxley will defend his IWGP World Heavyweight Championship against AEW star Powerhouse Hobbs next week on Dynamite.
The WWE veteran in question is Don Callis. Although Callis is not known for his time in the Stamford-based promotion, many may not remember his brief stint during the Attitude Era as a manager and backstage personality. Callis is currently a top manager of the Don Callis Family faction in AEW.
Callis made a special announcement on the latest episode of Collision regarding the match between his client, Powerhouse Hobbs, and Jon Moxley. He revealed that Moxley will wrestle The Don Callis Family member, Hobbs, with his title on the line next Wednesday.
This will mark the first IWGP World Heavyweight title defense for Moxley after winning it at the NJPW Windy City Riot event.
The match between Mox and Hobbs was made official after the brawl between The Blackpool Combat Club and The Don Callis Family last week on Dynamite. It remains to be seen how the 38-year-old fares in his first title defense.
