WWE recently used Samoa Joe in one of their Instagram posts amidst the star's absence from AEW television. Joe was released from the promotion in 2021.
This past week on the CW premiere of NXT, Trick Williams successfully defeated Ethan Page to capture the NXT Championship for the second time. There have been some notable names who have held the NXT title more than once and one of them is AEW star Samoa Joe who has been off television to film the second season of "Twisted Metal."
On Instagram, NXT's account celebrated Trick Williams' title victory and put him alongside previous names who have held the NXT Title more than once. This illustrious list features stars like Karrion Kross, Finn Balor, Bron Breakker, Samoa Joe, Shinsuke Nakamura, and Tomasso Ciampa.
"With his title win in Chicago, @trickwilliams_wwe joins an illustrious group of Superstars who have held the #WWENXT Championship at least twice!"

Samoa Joe recently addressed his future in AEW
The Samoan Submission Machine has been signed to All Elite Wrestling for the past few years and has managed to capture gold in the promotion. Samoa Joe's recent title run was with the AEW World Championship which he lost to Swerve Strickland at the Dynasty Pay-Per-View.
In August, the former World Champion hosted a panel at Terrificon where he was asked about his future rivalries and who he'd like to face if Tony Khan let him book.
"It's a tough answer because I'm only interested in doing the match-ups that the fans want to see. I have zero interest in doing a vanity match of somebody who's my dream opponent because I don't do this for me. I'm not doing this to pad my resume, to add to my portfolio. I do this for the fans to want to come and watch it. So, inevitable that question, at this point in my career, in my life, is left in your hands. What match do you want to see?" Samoa Joe said.
We will have to wait and see what the company has in store for Samoa Joe once he returns to action.
