AEW is WWE's largest competitor since WCW folded in 2001, but that doesn't mean it's more of a threat than the former Atlanta-based promotion was. According to Kevin Nash, a World Wrestling Entertainment executive believes that World Championship Wrestling in 1992 was more of a threat to the company than All Elite Wrestling is now.

AEW has found plenty of success and has even defied mainstream expectations in its first five years. Yet despite its new television deal and increased international presence, it's far from matching WWE, which is a powerhouse in the wrestling industry.

WWE has had decades to embed itself into the popular consciousness as the premier wrestling company, which has put All Elite Wrestling on its back foot since the young company was founded. WCW was in a similar situation—despite World Wrestling Entertainment not being the juggernaut it is today—back in 1992.

On a recent episode of his Kliq This podcast, Kevin Nash relayed a conversation he had with a WWE executive about how much of a threat the Jacksonville-based promotion is:

Corey Graves deleted his Tweet! More details HERE.

"I talked to a very, very high-up WWE person, yes [Sean Oliver asked if he meant executive], and I won’t divulge his name. But I said to him, 'I actually think that WCW in '92 was more of a threat to the WWE right now than AEW was, and he said, 'F***, without a doubt.'" [H/T Fightful]

Kevin Nash criticizes AEW stars' physiques

All Elite Wrestling prides itself on showcasing the greatest wrestling it can on its weekly programming, but not everyone is a fan of the in-ring action by itself. The company has been criticized in the past for featuring talents with non-traditional physiques.

Kevin Nash seems to have an old-school mentality when it comes to wrestlers' physiques. On a recent episode of Kliq This, he criticized AEW EVPs The Young Bucks, suggesting that they should pay a visit to the gym:

"The Bucks start their entrances and it's like if you're going to do that, that's great. At least go to the gym. The only cut on their bodies if you take away the crack of their a**es, they don't have a cut on their body." [6:59 - 7:28]

Nash and other WWE legends have often criticized All Elite Wrestling for its disregard of wrestling traditions and business practices, but many still see promise in the young promotion. Whether it can ever rise to the heights expected of it remains to be seen.
