Adam Copeland has been a part of the AEW roster since 2023. However, WWE has now filed a trademark involving him.

Adam Copeland first made a name for himself during his time in the WWE where he first wrestled from 1996 to 2011 under the ring name Edge. During this time, he established himself as one of the top stars in the industry and won numerous World Titles. Sadly, he had to step away from the ring in 2011 due to a career-threatening injury.

Copeland returned to the ring again in 2020 and wrestled for the Stamford-based promotion until 2023. Following this, he left the promotion and joined AEW using his real name - Adam Copeland. While Copeland has been part of Tony Khan's promotion for a year now, WWE has just filed a trademark for the name Edge. This means that he will no longer be able to use the name or profit of its existing brand value. The trademark defines his name as follows:

"WWE has filed to trademark: - Edge. Wrestling exhibitions and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer rendered through broadcast media including television and via the internet or commercial online service; providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network; providing information in the fields of sports via an online community portal."

Adam Copeland has been out of action since AEW Double or Nothing

It didn't take long for Adam Copeland to win his first title after joining AEW. He captured the TNT Championship from Christian Cage at AEW World's End 2023 before losing it on the same night. The former WWE Champion would then regain the title on the 20th March episode of Dynamite.

The Rated-R Superstar proved himself to be a fighting champion who defended his title in open challenges. At Double or Nothing 2024, Copeland competed against Malakai Black in a Barbed Wire Steel Cage Match. During the bout, he jumped off the top of the cage and landed awkwardly, injuring himself. The former Edge won the match but had to relinquish his title after the bout. Since then, he has been absent from TV and it is still not known when he is expected to return.

It will be interesting to see when Copeland will make his return to the ring and what the future has in store for him.
