Jon Moxley and The Blackpool Combat Club have been violently assaulting members of the AEW locker room as of late. Wrestling veteran Tommy Dreamer has suggested that WWE Hall of Famer Sting and 42-year-old star Eddie Kingston could be positioned as figures who can try and stop the heel stable's rampage.
The Icon enjoyed an unforgettable run in the Tony Khan-led promotion since his debut in 2020, which concluded at Revolution 2024 when he and Darby Allin successfully retained the AEW World Tag Team Titles against The Young Bucks. Although seemingly retired from in-ring competition, The Stinger did appear at All In this year to rescue Allin from being set on fire by The Elite.
Eddie Kingston, on the other hand, has been on the shelf since losing his NJPW Strong Openweight Championship to Gabe Kidd earlier this year after suffering injuries to his leg during the match. The Mad King is unlikely to return to action until 2025, although he could easily be slotted into The BCC's ongoing storyline in AEW when he does, considering his history with the group.
While thinking about worthy babyfaces who could oppose Jon Moxley and company during a recent edition of Busted Open Radio, Tommy Dreamer brought up Kingston's name as a viable candidate to stand up to the heel group. The WWE veteran also suggested that Sting could return to AEW in a non-wrestling capacity to motivate the roster, considering his history of challenging villainous factions like The Four Horsemen and The NWO.

"Eddie Kingston is great, if he's able to go. I mean, also, Sting. Sting can show back up, not be a wrestler, rally the troops... Sting was part of two waves, he was part of fighting off The Horsemen, he was part of fighting off The NWO, he was a main part of that, he could be like, 'Guys, I've lived here before,'" said Dreamer. Bully Ray praised AEW's storytelling on this week's Dynamite
On the same episode of Busted Open Radio, Bully Ray praised the narrative throughline of the All Elite Wrestling locker room, lying in wait, armed and ready outside the arena to take down The BCC from this week's episode of AEW Dynamite. He also compared the angle to WWE's creative from back in the day.
"I did like AEW's attempt at threading the story throughout the night," Bully said. "Moxley's gonna show up with his crew, and we are going to be waiting for them. ... Whether or not you like the meat and potatoes of the story is one thing, but they are attempting to thread a story, to keep you on the channel. This is very much like Vince Russo's attempt to book the WWE back in the day."
It remains to be seen how Tony Khan and his creative team will proceed with booking Jon Moxley and his faction moving forward.
