WWE Hall of Famer Jeff Jarrett made a shocking announcement on the January 1 episode of AEW Dynamite. He disclosed he had signed a new deal with All Elite Wrestling, which would be his last pro wrestling contract as an active competitor. The veteran hopes to wind up his in-ring career with a world title run.

The Last Outlaw has been in the pro wrestling business since the '80s. He joined the Tony Khan-led promotion in 2022. Besides being an in-ring competitor, he is a backstage executive in the company.

On the latest edition of his My World podcast, Jeff Jarrett revealed what made him sign his final wrestling contract with AEW. He disclosed that his friends and family encouraged him to go out with a bang.

“I’ll just leave it at this: I am very grateful. Prior to the pandemic, I didn’t have wrestling on my bingo card. But through all the conversations I’ve had—whether with my family, my wrestling family like Sonjay [Dutt], Jay [Lethal], and Satnam [Singh], or legends I truly respect—it became clear that I should take one last shot. My gut instinct was to re-sign for wrestling and see where it could take me.”

Double J added he wanted to make his last run memorable. Hence, he was going after the AEW World Championship.

“There’s a former world champion who told me, ‘Jeff, go out swinging. You don’t need a long run—just go for it all.’ That’s what the promo was based on: high risk, high reward. I’m going for the world title. I’m going for it all. This stage of my career—it’s do or die, and I’m excited to see what happens next.” [H/T: Ringside News]

Dutch Mantell wants Tony Khan to push Jeff Jarrett in AEW

Dutch Mantell shared his thoughts on Jeff Jarrett's final wrestling run on the latest edition of his Story Time podcast.

The former Zeb Colter said Tony Khan had wasted Jarrett's potential in AEW so far. However, he urged Khan to start pushing Double J as he felt the veteran could bring in tons of money and attract new viewers to the company.

"They gotta do something with Jeff; they haven't done anything really with him since the whole time he's been there. They pushed him a little bit when his wife came in, Karen, but there's still some money with that guy I think."

Mantell added that Khan needed to put Jarrett in a long-term, interesting storyline to build his character in the company.
