WWE Hall of Famer veteran DDP has reacted to AEW star Sting's retirement announcement.

The Icon has had a legendary career spanning over four decades and has succeeded in WCW, TNA, and AEW. On the latest edition of Dynamite, Sting addressed the fans.

On Dynamite, the 64-year-old legend announced his retirement, saying that his final match in the Jacksonville-based promotion will take place at Revolution 2024. Sting's rival, WWE Hall of Famer DDP, recently reacted to this announcement.

Speaking on the Busted Open Radio, DDP said that The Icon is one of the guys he holds dear to his heart.

"I heard that he was thinking about it. I wasn't sure exactly when he was going to do it. But, man, there's certain guys in this business that I really hold dear to my heart. That's one of them. When I saw him out there, when he jumped off the wall, whatever the hell that was and went through two tables. I'm like, 'Oh my God.' I can remember texting him one time after a huge bump he took and go, 'Are you okay?'"

Furthermore, he praised Sting for his work ethic and dedication to the business:

"I think Sting has had one of the most glorious careers that you could ever have. I told him. I said 'Sting, at some point. I am gonna get you. You're gonna come looking for me and I just want you to know brother, I am always here when you're ready.' What's really shocking to me is he didn't just phone anything in and he could have. All he had to do was a couple of elbows. That's all he would have needed to do. Splash, boom boom, Scorpion [Death Drop]. They would have went crazy. But he didn't do that. So god bless him man, I love the cat." (H/T - SESCOOPS)

WWE Hall of Famer Eric Bischoff says he is happy for Sting

WWE Hall of Famer Eric Bischoff, who worked with Sting during the Monday Night Wars, has reacted to the Icon's retirement announcement.

Speaking on the 83 Weeks podcast, Bischoff said he is happy for WWE Hall of Famer Sting.

“I’m happy for him. You know, I think anytime somebody that’s been in the public guy, even a career like professional wrestling, in particular, has an opportunity to kind of end their career the way they want to under their own terms. That’s always a great thing. So I’m happy. I’m happy for Steve Borden. (H/T - TJRWrestling)

It will be interesting to see who the Stinger faces in his final match at Revolution next year.
