A WWE Hall of Famer who used to feature prominently for AEW revealed the reason the company fired him. He was a manager for a top team.
Tully Blanchard played an instrumental part in FTR's initial run in AEW. He played the part of a heel manager to perfection. He was also able to get instant heat on himself and FTR which helped them. Tully was at every show and in the corner of Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler. However, he suddenly stopped appearing on TV and was released from the company.
Speaking on his Tully Vision Series podcast, Tully Blanchard said that he was released from AEW because he missed one show.
“But, it all worked out good, and I got on TV for a little while. I was on with some very great talent and was thrilled to do that. And then [long pause], you miss a show and you get fired.” [laughs] [H/T Wrestlezone]
Tully Blanchard on Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks' involvement in running AEW
The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega formed All Elite Wrestling along with Tony Khan. Apart from being on-screen talent, they also wear the hats of EVPs in the company. Being an EVP comes with its fair share of responsibilities but their main job is to make things easier for Tony Khan.
Tully Blanchard, who worked for All Elite Wrestling for some time, got a sneak peek into how things are run backstage. During a recent appearance on Wrestling Shoot Interviews, when Tully was asked about Omega and The Bucks's roles as EVPs, he said that they may help Tony Khan but he isn't too sure.
"I guess they help Tony [Khan], I don't know," said Tully Blanchard. [13:00-13:06]
It will be interesting to see if Tully Blanchard will make his return to All Elite Wrestling again in the future.
