The current AEW roster is home to several WWE Hall of Famers, from Jim Ross to Adam Copeland, Billy Gunn to Sting, Jake Roberts, and Jeff Jarrett. AEW has also worked with other inductees from the Stamford-based promotion, such as Mark Henry, Arn Anderson, Ric Flair, Tully Blanchard, Bret Hart, and Rob Van Dam, among others. Now two decorated multi-time Hall of Famers are making a comeback.
Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson started working together in 1980, but in 1983, they were re-packaged as The Rock 'n' Roll Express by then-creative booker of CWA in Memphis, Jerry Lawler. Ricky and Robert went on to wrestle around the world and secure close to fifty Tag Title reigns in promotions such as WCW, NWA, SMW, USWA, and Mid-South, among others.
The Consummate Babyface Tag Team debuted for All Elite Wrestling in October 2019 to crown the inaugural World Tag Team Champions but was attacked by Santana and Ortiz. Morton and Gibson fought back at Full Gear but the heels still beat The Young Bucks. RnR returned in August 2020 for Tag Team Appreciation Night with FTR, Tully Blanchard, and Arn Anderson, but were attacked by Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler, later leading to FTR defeating RnR in January 2022.
AEW has announced that The Rock 'n' Roll Express is returning in 2025. Gibson and Morton were just confirmed for the live Collision on Saturday, January 4 at Bojangles Coliseum in Charlotte, NC. They will then return on Wednesday, January 22 for a live Dynamite at Knoxville Civic Auditorium-Coliseum in Knoxville,l TN. Tickets are now on sale for both events.

Officials have not confirmed if Morton and Gibson will make their All Elite in-ring debuts next month. The 68-year-old Morton regularly works indie events these days, while the 66-year-old Gibson also still wrestles, but not as often. Their last time teaming together was a win over Chance Rizer and Mason Myles for ASW last June.
