A WWE legend recently shared his thoughts on Jon Moxley choking Bryan Danielson, formerly known as Daniel Bryan, out with a plastic bag at the AEW All Out 2024 Pay-Per-View. The individual in question is Bully Ray.

After his successful title retention against Jack Perry at All Out 2024, Bryan Danielson's AEW World Championship reign seemed to be in peril as Christian Cage, who won the Casino Gauntlet Match at All In 2024, marched down to the ring with his stablemates from The Patriarchy. His attempt to cash in on a shot at The American Dragon's belt was foiled by the latter's teammates, Jon Moxley and the rest of the Blackpool Combat Club. The Purveyor of Violence embraced Danielson in the ring afterward seemingly in celebration. However, Claudio Castagnoli suddenly knocked Bryan off his feet with an uppercut in a shocking turn of events, after which Moxley suffocated the Washington native with a plastic bag.

On a recent edition of the Busted Open Radio podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray addressed Jon Moxley's assault on Bryan Danielson at All Out and recalled Terry Funk executing a similar spot with Ric Flair over three decades ago.

"The first thing that came to mind was Terry Funk and Ric Flair. How do you not think about that? Because Terry Funk and Ric Flair, to my knowledge, were the first and only people to do it. The implication was very violent," Bully Ray said. [H/T WrestlingINC]

Ray also reflected on Vince McMahon's views regarding the usage of weapons on wrestling television and commented on possible objections that viewers might raise against AEW's oft-violent content.

"Vince (McMahon) did not want any weapons used that could be deemed regular household items. Vince didn't want a child to be able to watch Monday Night RAW or SmackDown or any WWE programming and see them use a weapon they could find in their house and go use on their little brother, their little sister, or somebody at school. So, I could see somebody who may be allowed their children to watch AEW who'd be like, 'I'm upset because my 10-year-old saw the plastic bag spot and then immediately went into the kitchen and took a plastic bag and put it over his brother's head,'" Bully Ray said. It remains to be seen how The American Dragon retaliates against his former stablemates.

Jon Moxley is set to appear on AEW Dynamite this week

Wrestling fans are still reeling from the Blackpool Combat Club's betrayal of its founding member, Bryan Danielson, at the AEW All Out 2024 Pay-Per-View. The reigning AEW World Champion was suffocated by his long-time partner, Jon Moxley, with a plastic bag in an unexpected assault, with Claudio Castagnoli and Marina Shafir holding off concerned personnel and PAC restraining a despairing Wheeler Yuta from interfering.

AEW will air this week's episode of Dynamite from Lexington, Kentucky. The episode, it was recently announced, will feature the appearance of Jon Moxley, who could potentially explain his actions and his ambiguous motivations as of late on the show.

It remains to be seen what is next for Danielson and the Blackpool Combat Club moving forward.
