A WWE legend is open to the idea of returning to AEW to become the next TNT Champion in case current title holder Adam Copeland is forced to relinquish his belt. The star concerned is none other than Rob Van Dam.

The Rated-R Superstar recently took to social media to address the injury he reportedly suffered during the barbed wire steel cage match against Malakai Black for his TNT Championship. Copeland revealed that he had fractured his tibia and would have to undergo surgery for it, although he could not provide any details regarding the time frame of the procedure.

The Ultimate Opportunist's injury raises several questions regarding the future of the AEW TNT Title. Amidst all the speculation, however, another former WWE superstar has seemingly expressed an interest in winning the coveted championship.

A fan took to X/Twitter to argue that since Adam Copeland may be forced to vacate the TNT Championship because of his injury, the candidate best suited to hold the title next was Rob Van Dam. The former WWE Champion liked the fan tweet, evidently in agreement with the idea.

The Whole F'n Show has been missing from action since defeating Lee Johnson, Isiah Kassidy, and Komander in a four-way elimination match on the April 20, 2024 episode of Rampage.

WWE legend Rob Van Dam has been open to an extended AEW run

Rob Van Dam has made several appearances on AEW television since making his debut in the Jacksonville-based promotion in August last year. He has faced off against several top All Elite Wrestling stars, including Jack Perry, Samoa Joe, and the current AEW World Champion, Swerve Strickland.

Speaking on his 1 of a Kind podcast, RVD discussed the prospect of an extended run in All Elite Wrestling. The 53-year-old legend revealed that he was open to having talks on the subject, although he claimed that no such conversation had been initiated so far.

“I would like to think that I’m open to any conversation. So anything’s worth considering. Let’s hear what you got in mind, whatever. But no, I don’t have any of those talks. What you see is what you get, and that’s all anybody is talking about. All anyone is talking about doing, let me put it that way.” [H/T RSN]

Given that he has expressed interest in a potential future WrestleMania appearance as well, it remains to be seen what the future holds for Rob Van Dam in pro wrestling.
