A WWE legend has opened up on his immediate reaction to Jon Moxley ending Bryan Danielson’s full-time career. This will surely clear up a lot of misconceptions.
Jon Moxley retired Danielson after he defeated him at WrestleDream last week and Jim Ross was one of the commentators for the main event. After the result, the veteran commentator stayed silent and it felt like he was at a loss for words.
He has now cleared the air about why he was quiet in the closing moments of the bout in the latest episode of his Grilling JR podcast. He said:
“Sometimes, it’s best for one to just lay out. At the end of the match, I was silent because I didn’t know what I needed to say to continue to sell the moment and the fact that Bryan Danielson, by his own word, he said the day he loses the title is the day he’s done. He obviously lost the title, so I take him above any wrestler I’ve ever met at his word. I didn’t know what to say. ‘Why didn’t you say something?’ Not my people, but just some fans. There was nothing I could add that would help it. The pictures and the natural sounds, in my opinion, told the story very well. That’s why I laid out at the very end. I know Excalibur got very emotional, he cried. I didn’t get that far into it but I appreciate his passion.” [0:51 - 2:06]
Jon Moxley sends out a warning on AEW Dynamite
Jon Moxley is one of the top stars in AEW and even more so now that he is the AEW World Champion. He is on a mission and it seems like he is just starting off.
On Dynamite, he sent out a warning to everyone on the roster and said that they all work for him now. In an emotional backstage promo, Jon Moxley said:
"I hate what AEW has become. Egos outta control, celebrating when there's no need to celebrate, partying when there's no need for dancing and partying, I cannot stand it anymore. I will burn down the forest to plant a new one. I'm not sentimental... We will do what has to be done. We can see a better future, and we will make it happen... What is the new paradigm? It's very simple. You work for me now."
It will be interesting to see what his next line of action is going to be now that he is back at the pinnacle of AEW again.
