A WWE legend was in action this week in a high-stakes match on AEW Dynamite. Unfortunately, Jeff Jarrett, the veteran in question, was unsuccessful in securing a future title shot.

The Last Outlaw announced ahead of Dynamite: Fight for the Fallen last week that he had an important announcement regarding the future of his pro wrestling career on the show. In a heartfelt promo, Jarrett revealed that he had signed his final talent contract with All Elite Wrestling and voiced his desire to go after the AEW World Championship.
To that end, Double J entered as the eleventh participant in the Casino Gauntlet Match on the January 8 episode of AEW Dynamite for a shot at Jon Moxley's World Championship next week on Maximum Carnage. To the dismay of fans in his home state of Tennessee, Jarrett was ambushed by Death Riders member Wheeler Yuta before he could even enter the ring, and the duo fought all the way to the back.

In Jarrett's absence, Powerhouse Hobbs won the Gauntlet and earned a chance to dethrone Moxley in Cincinnati.
Jarrett was previously seen in action on Dynamite in an Anything Goes match against Bryan Danielson in August last year.
