"WWE is like Taylor Swift, and AEW is like Slayer," explains two-time TNT Champion

WWE and AEW are arguably two of the top pro wrestling organizations. The back-and-forth between promotions has played out over their own platforms, but most of the young rivalry seems to be between fans on social media. Now a top star has weighed in with an engaging analogy on how violent the two products are.

Darby Allin is an AEW Original. The two-time Royal Rampage winner began his career in 2014 and has worked for MLW, AAA, and PROGRESS Wrestling, but never had a shot with WWE. The 31-year-old has been pushed as a top star since day one, wrestling Cody Rhodes to a time-limit draw in his All Elite debut in 2019.

The Invisible Man recently appeared on Busted Open Radio and used music to compare World Wrestling Entertainment and All Elite Wrestling. Darby said WWE, led by Triple H, is like pop star Taylor Swift, while AEW, led by Tony Khan, is more like metal icons Slayer.

"If people are going to compare the two companies, I like to put it as a music reference. WWE is like Taylor Swift, AEW is like Slayer. Taylor Swift can sell more records, but that doesn't mean Slayer doesn't have a huge following. Our brand of music is a little more intense and violent, we don't have to change anything. We don't have to try to sell the same records as Taylor Swift. We're kind of in our own world. That's where I like to compare the two. You can watch All Out, it can be a little offensive, but I live to offend people," Darby Allin said. [H/T to Fightful]

Allin will face Jon Moxley on Wednesday's Dynamite: Grand Slam special. His guaranteed title shot will be on the line, and the winner will advance to WrestleDream to challenge Bryan Danielson for the World Championship.

Darby Allin defeats returning AEW star

The Dark Order's Evil Uno returned to singles action on Saturday's live Collision episode. This was his first televised singles match in the All Elite ring since he defeated Cezar Bononi for AEW Dark in March 2023.

Collision saw Uno lose a five-minute match to Darby Allin. This was the first-ever match between the two, which ended with a Coffin Drop for the pin. Allin had a brief staredown with commentator Nigel McGuinness before the bout.

Collision marked Uno's first appearance on All Elite Wrestling's B-show since this past February, and this was just his second Collision match in the history of the show.

While the loss to Allin marked Uno's first televised All Elite singles match since March 2023, he has won Dynamite dark matches over Brandon Cutler and Serpentico this year. The Dark Order also competes on ROH.
