Former WWE Head Writer Vince Russo believes Bobby Lashley's idea for a storyline with Gunther could have been great. Gunther is the current World Heavyweight Champion on WWE RAW.

The Ring General has quickly become one of the most dominant stars in WWE since his main roster debut in 2022. Many stars try to go one-on-one against Gunther to see who's better. New reports revealed that brand new AEW star Bobby Lashley too had ideas of going up against The Ring General. The All-Mighty recently explained an idea he had for a feud with Gunther while he was still in WWE. Lashley said that they would've had a heated promo battle where Gunther would refuse to give him a title shot by saying, 'People like you don't deserve a shot at my title.'

On the latest episode of Sportskeeda's Writing with Russo podcast with Dr. Chris, the WCW veteran was asked whether he would have booked Bobby Lashley's controversial storyline with Gunther. Vince Russo claimed that the storyline would have been great for television.

"1000% because that's the level I write at. Think about this, if Bobby's line was, 'Yeah, I wouldn't give a title shot to people like you,' that can mean anything. Now if I'm Gunther, I'm turning on Bobby [Lashley] and saying, 'Bobby, what does that mean to you? People like you? What do you think I'm saying?' and then the heel can almost say, 'Who's the racist one here? Why is that idea already in your head? I wasn't talking anything about that.'"

The veteran also explained why the story can't happen under Tony Khan's leadership:

"You could make such a great story out of that. I say this all the time, you have to know how to do it. Tony Khan is running around with a freaking book with 27 columns, something like that will never happen. You would've been able to write a great storyline off of that." [7:53 - 9:06]

Former WWE Champion Bobby Lashley recently debuted in AEW

Bobby Lashley left WWE in August reportedly due to his contract having expired. The All-Mighty was heavily rumored to join MVP and Shelton Benjamin in their next destination which would turn out to be AEW. After teasing his arrival for a couple of weeks, Lashley finally made his debut on this past week's Dynamite.

AEW Fright Night Dynamite saw Shelton Benjamin facing Swerve Strickland in the main event. The former world champion handed Benjamin his first loss in the promotion. After the match, Bobby Lashley made his debut and took out Swerve Strickland with the help of The Hurt Syndicate.

It will be interesting to see if Bobby Lashley makes his All Elite Wrestling in-ring debut against Swerve Strickland.
