WWE recently featured an AEW star on its social media during his leave. The global sports entertainment juggernaut uploaded a new match on WWE Vault's YouTube channel. The page tends to post previous infamous bouts and hidden gems. Most recently, the WWE Vault uploaded the contest between Samoa Joe and John Cena.
WWE legend John Cena recently kicked off his retirement tour, which is set to last for the entirety of 2025. Meanwhile, the Samoan Submission Machine is on a hiatus from AEW due to outside ventures. However, he is expected to return to the Jacksonville-based promotion anytime now.
John Cena and Samoa Joe wrestled in a house show match back in August 2017. They squared off for almost 15 minutes during the match. The rarely seen contest saw the Cenation Leader emerge victorious in the bout.

AEW's Samoa Joe shares details about John Cena's early career
Samoa Joe recently shared some major insights of his early career. During his initial years, John Cena was presented as a freestyle rapper.
While speaking with ESPN, Joe claimed that Cena had started freestyling before signing with WWE. The former AEW World Champion said that they would rap together on road trips.
"People think that the freestyling started in WWE, but all that started back in the day. On road trips up to Northern California, and John going on freestyle raps for hours at a time. I mean, just going off. We'd have whatever evening mix, the drive time mix that would be on, and we'd be driving up to San Francisco, and John would just be killing it. The brother can rap," he said.
It will be interesting to see if the two ever cross paths again in the future.
