It seems AEW has found itself in another pickle recently. It has just been reported that despite WWE having a minor dip in their ratings this week, AEW has still fallen short of the numbers. This would be concerning their ratings and viewership for the shows this week.
This week, Dynamite and NXT went head-to-head for an hour. The Tony Khan-led promotion's flagship show was moved to a special time slot this week. On the other hand, it was the black and silver brand's second show on their new network, the CW Network.
It was reported by PW Torch and Programming Insider that WWE NXT this week had a 2% and 10% dip in viewership and the 18-49 key demographic ratings respectively. The Triple H-led creative packed the show with several members of the main roster, including the likes of Jey Uso, Randy Orton, Jade Cargill, Bianca Belair, Austin Theory, and Grayson Waller.
For AEW, it was their one of their go-home shows ahead of their WrestleDream Pay-Per-View this weekend. However this did not end up well for them as according to Wrestlenomics, they recorded their lowest numbers in history with a viewership of 329,000 and only a 0.10 rating in the 18-49 key demographic. This was a major decline in comparison to last week's ratings for the show.
AEW WrestleDream takes place this weekend
This weekend, the second edition of AEW WrestleDream will be taking place, and it seems that the match card has shaped up nicely. A total of six title matches, and several intense feuds will be a part of the action fans can expect from the show.
The main event of this year's pay-per-view will feature Bryan Danielson as he goes to war against Jon Moxley, with his AEW World Title on the line. Three out of four members of The Elite will put their titles on the line as well.
The night will also feature a rematch of the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament finals between Mariah May and Willow Nightingale. Ricochet is all set to compete in his first title match on a pay-per-view in AEW.
Both Hangman Page and Swerve Strickland will be on the show but for different reasons. The former will be in a match with Jay White, while the latter will be around to make an appearance in front of his home crowd.
To cap off the night of action, Mark Briscoe is set to defend his ROH World Title against Chris Jericho, Darby Allin, and Brody King will continue their long-time rivalry, and Hologram will make his PPV debut in a two out of three falls match against The Beast Mortos.
This card will surely have an incredible four hours worth of action for the fans, and there will surely be more surprises to come.
Which match are you looking forward to the most?
