Britt Baker recently returned to AEW after a lengthy hiatus. The top star made a surprise appearance at Forbidden Door to staredown Mercedes Moné. Baker then appeared on the fallout episode of Dynamite and provided an unfortunate update. The wrestling world has offered support to Baker ever since, and now a WWE Superstar is weighing in.
The DMD revealed on Dynamite: Beach Break that she had been dealing with an injured hip labrum, and two herniated disks. She also suffered a transient ischemic attack, which was a sign of a stroke, and even known as a mini-stroke. Baker's promo was interrupted by Moné, who is the current AEW TBS Champion and the Strong Women's Champion. The two had words to further their new rivalry.
Baker and WWE's Chelsea Green have teamed up and competed against each other several times in the indies since 2017. Speaking to POST Wrestling for a recent interview, the SmackDown superstar reiterated her support for her good friend. Green also said she's happy Baker took time to care for herself.
"I knew all that. Obviously, as a friend, I'm here for support, whatever she needs. She lives very close to me. So, if she ever needed to call me, she could. But at the end of the day, you gotta take care of your health at home with the people that love you. I think that's what she did, and I'm so happy she took care of herself," Chelsea Green said. The second and last Green vs. Baker singles match took place in July 2018 at RISE Ascent. The former WWE Women's Tag Team Champion got the win that night, in a rematch of their first singles bout at RISE 2 in January 2017, which The Doctor won in just under 14 minutes.
Britt Baker set to receive AEW title shot?
Britt Baker has been atop the All Elite Wrestling women's division since day one. However, The Doctor has only held the Women's World Championship on one occasion.
The first female signed by AEW recently issued a challenge to Mercedes Moné on Dynamite, calling her out for a match at All In at Wembley Stadium. Moné dismissed the challenge and told Baker to get to the back of the line, but it's rumored to be confirmed in the near future.
It remains to be seen if Moné will put the AEW TBS Championship and the NJPW Strong Women's Championship on the line at All In. There's also fan speculation on All In featuring the two in some sort of Triple Threat.
