Ricochet has come under a lot of criticism due to his promo skills. Even a WWE veteran has now criticized him.
Jim Cornette is the latest to comment on Ricochet. The former Intercontinental Champion is known for being one of the best in-ring performers. His whole arsenal of moves is like a highlight reel filled with one high-flying move to another.
The One and Only star has received a lot of critical acclaim for his in-ring prowess from several of his peers. However, there is one department that fans generally feel he needs to work on - his promo skills. The former WWE star has no shortage of wrestling ability but his promo game often falls flat. This has led him to receive a lot of criticism in the past.
Speaking on his Drive-Thru podcast, Jim Cornett said that The One and Only would've been a much bigger star if he couldn't speak or use social media:
Top WWE star blasted, compared to Winnie the Pooh RIGHT HERE
"I'm surprised they didn't have somebody cut Ricochet's vocal cords. He might be a bigger star if you didn't hear him spin and maybe break his fingers so he can't talk on Twitter. If Ricochet could not communicate in any way with the fans, I think he'd be a superstar." [1:04 - 1:24]
Konnan claimed that Ricochet might have backstage heat in AEW
Ricochet arrived in AEW by competing in the Casino Gauntlet match at All In. He failed to pick up the win which upset a lot of fans. Since then, he went on a winning streak for a while and even earned himself an International Championship match only to lose. His run in AEW has felt in many ways similar to his run in WWE which is a cause for concern.
Speaking on his Keepin' It 100 Official podcast, Konnan stated that the former WWE star should've won the gauntlet but he hasn't been used well. He also claimed that the high-flyer could have backstage heat due to his outspoken nature:
"He hasn't been used well. When they brought him in for that gauntlet, he should have won. Maybe, who knows backstage I can ask people that would know that maybe he's more outspoken now... Since he wasn't used well in WWE and you have only a small window to make that big money, okay, if not you're on the Indies grinding and he probably maybe more outspoken, and that's gotten him heat but bro, they used them wrong from the minute he came in," Konnan said. Currently, the former WWE star is involved in the Continental Classic Tournament and it will be interesting to see if he will be able to win it all.
