Tony Khan has often been praised for being a kind person. A WWE veteran, however, believes that this exact quality has led to him being in a tough position as the owner and head booker of AEW.
The veteran in question, Vince Russo, has often criticized Khan's handling of his company's bookings. The former WWE head writer has pointed out time and again how Tony Khan generally prefers to set up random dream matches with little to no storyline to organically start the feud. However, Russo has admitted that despite his faults, Tony Khan is a genuinely nice person.
Speaking on Sportskeeda Wrestling's The Wrestling Outlaws, the WWE veteran compared Tony to Dixie Carter. He stated they both were exceptional human beings, but he also noted how tough it was for nice people to make it in the wrestling industry.
"Tony Khan seems like a hell of a nice guy bro. He really really does. Dixie Carter, EC3 will tell you, was a hell of a nice woman. Thus lies the problem. It's hard to be that nice and be in the wrestling business. That is the problem bro. That's why man, I never, I don't have a problem with Tony Khan's personality... We have fun with him at the scrums and all that stuff. But you know genuinely, bro, everybody that works for him has nothing but nice things to say about the dude," he said [5:44 onwards]

Vince Russo has addressed Tony Khan's frequent shots at WWE
During several on-screen segments and media scrums, Tony Khan is seen firing shots at their biggest competitor, WWE. While Vince Russo admires the AEW President in some regards, he has made it clear that the Jacksonville-based company needs some serious changes in direction to back up its words.
In a social media post, the WWE veteran talked about the segment where Tony Khan was attacked by The Young Bucks and Jack Perry and said that he was thoroughly entertained. Russo praised Khan for his work in pro wrestling but urged him to improve AEW's product to generate a mass appeal, something that was still lacking.
Man, I am thoroughly entertained by , I really am. Fact is the Wrestling Industry wouldn't be the same for me today ---if Tony weren't a part of it. That is the truth. However---there comes a time when you have to STOP talking and START doing. TK can take whatever shots he wants at @WWE, but until he improves his product, attempting to generate MASS APPEAL (and, I'm not sure he knows how to do that)---nothing is going to change. And THAT is the God's Honest Truth, he wrote.

For now, it remains to be seen whether Tony Khan's handling of AEW will go through changes any time soon.
