A WWE veteran believes that Shane McMahon's AEW run would fizzle out quickly. This comes after Shane's rumored interest in Tony Khan's promotion.

Dutch Mantell is the latest to weigh in on Shane McMahon and AEW's potential link-up. Recently, it was reported that McMahon had expressed interest in Tony Khan's promotion. Although there wasn't an official meeting between the two and the AEW boss even said that he hadn't spoken to the 54-year-old. However, these reports were enough for rumors to spread like wildfire.

Speaking on his Story Time with Dutch Mantell podcast, the former WWE manager stated that if Shane were to join AEW, his run would fizzle out in three months.

"I don't see Shane going there and if he does go there without trying to do any kind of an agreement with WWE, I'll give it three months and it'll die the death of the dog," predicted Mantell. [58:40 - 58:58]

Dutch Mantell believes that Shane McMahon could be involved in AEW in another way

Although the possibility of Shane McMahon joining AEW seems unlikely, there is another way that he could work with the promotion, according to Dutch Mantell. This would appear to be the more likely approach as well.

Speaking on the same podcast episode, Mantell explained that Shane could work in AEW if the promotion struck a deal with WWE. He said he doesn't see McMahon working with the Jacksonville-based promotion, especially as a manager, and felt the best way he could be associated with the company was if the two promotions agreed to share talent, without overdoing it.

"I think Shane [McMahon] and Tony [Khan] could work something like that but I would hate to see the form of it after they got it because they could probably run by the story too quickly.....but if they did that right, I could see that happening. I don't see Shane going in there trying to be a manager. I don't see Shane going in there and now I think the only way that he would go is if WWE and AEW work some kind of agreement to where they could swap just a little bit of talent....not a lot....just a little bit," said Mantell. It will be interesting to see whether Shane McMahon will even join AEW but stranger things have happened in the pro wrestling business and only time will tell what comes of this story.
