A WWE veteran is not fond of Rey Fenix's recent comments about AEW. Dutch Mantell believes Fenix turned heel after venting about his treatment.
Rey Fenix has claimed that he received inhumane treatment in AEW. This comes after Tony Khan reportedly added injury time to his contract. Fenix and his brother Penta El Zero were reportedly set to debut in WWE after leaving All Elite Wrestling. However, Penta was the only one from the Lucha Bros who officially left the promotion recently.
In a recent edition of Story Time with Dutch Mantell podcast, the former WWE manager reacted to Rey Fenix's comment about his treatment in All Elite Wrestling. He claimed that the promotion paying him for staying home while still taking shots at them is special treatment.
"If he went to court with this inhumane treatment, you know what that jury would do? The jury would say, if my job sent me home and I'm making the same money being at home as to being there, that to me is not inhumane. That is special treatment. And nobody understands that at all. I don't get it. Even in Mexico, if they're gonna pay you that money and you're gonna stay home and be with your family and do whatever you want, they won't get it either. But, I think it kinda turns him heel a little bit." [54:30 - 55:30]

Eric Bischoff sides with Tony Khan on Rey Fenix's AEW situation
Tony Khan has reportedly added injury time to Rey Fenix's contract. The highflyer's deal was set to expire this year along with his tag team partner, Penta El Zero. Fenix has vented frustrations about the situation and he will remain with the company till 2025 according to reports.
In a recent edition of his 83 Weeks podcast, Eric Bischoff stated that he agrees with Tony Khan's decision to add injury time to Rey Fenix's AEW contract. He said that Khan invested a lot of money in Fenix, so it makes sense.
"For the most part, I would agree with Tony. He's got a business to protect, and when you invest a lot of money in talent and the talent isn't able to perform because of an injury, to me, it makes sense that you would add that time." [50:00-50:22]
We will have to wait and see what the future holds for Rey Fenix in All Elite Wrestling.
