AEW World Champion Jon Moxley has been causing chaos alongside his Blackpool Combat Club members in All Elite Wrestling. A former TNT Champion could return to the promotion to confront The Death Rider for his recent actions.
Wardlow has been out of action since unsuccessfully challenging Samoa Joe for the AEW World Championship at Big Business Dynamite earlier this year in March. Mr. Mayhem has been a part of the Undisputed Kingdom stable led by Adam Cole since December 2023, but his involvement with the faction has been underwhelming. The landscape of All Elite Wrestling has shifted drastically since the 36-year-old's absence as Jon Moxley and the Blackpool Combat Club have held the promotion hostage for the past month or so.
Many wonder who would stand up to The Lunatic Fringe's chaos in All Elite Wrestling. Orange Cassidy is set to challenge Moxley for the world title at AEW Full Gear later this month. This could be the perfect way to bring back Wardlow who has suffered from lack of direction for almost two years.
Some recent reports also revealed that Wardlow was backstage at the recent Dynamite and was looking healthy. Fans have pushed to see the former three-time TNT Champion in the main event scene, and a feud with Jon Moxley could possibly help him become a major player in All Elite Wrestling once again.
Ryback questions why AEW dropped the ball on Wardlow
Wardlow broke out as a singles star after turning on MJF in 2022. The turn brought the TNT Championship to Mr. Mayhem and many believed that the promotion was setting him up for the AEW World Championship. However, he fell victim to some questionable booking decisions.
In an episode of his Ryback TV podcast, the former Intercontinental Champion questioned how All Elite Wrestling could have messed up with Wardlow who had momentum and had the fans behind him.
"I don't know what happened with that and I will forever say that might be the biggest mess up there so far for whatever reason, however it happened with how over he was. He had momentum and they literally threw it away," he said. [From 01:01:40 - 01:02:19]
