Former AEW star Penta made his highly anticipated WWE debut on Monday after weeks of speculation. The talented luchador embarked on a singles run without his Lucha Bros. teammate and real-life brother, Rey Fenix. This has led many to wonder why Fenix did not join his sibling in the global juggernaut.
The duo of Penta and Rey Fenix were considered a top tag team in AEW. They were with the Tony Khan-led company right from the beginning and competed in several captivating bouts. Penta's contract came to an end in November 2024, and he decided to sign with WWE. However, Rey Fenix reportedly could not join the global juggernaut because Khan decided to add injury time to his deal.
It has been reported that Rey Fenix is still under contract with AEW. His deal has been extended because he was sidelined from in-ring action due to an injury in the past. Moreover, Fenix hinted at tensions between himself and the Tony Khan-led promotion in now-deleted X/Twitter posts.
Fenix claimed that the AEW management ignored him for months when he was seeking medical assistance.
Penta made a victorious debut against a top WWE RAW superstar
While Rey Fenix is still part of AEW, Penta made a remarkable debut on RAW this week on Netflix. The masked star's opponent was American Made leader Chad Gable.
Master Gable had asked RAW general manager Adam Pearce to find him the best luchador to wrestle last week. Pearce delivered exactly what Gable had requested, with Penta proving his status as a top luchador in the business inside a WWE ring.
The duo delivered a highly exhilarating in-ring showdown while fans showered them with 'This is Awesome' chants. The final moments of the bout saw Penta executing Sacrifice and a Penta Driver to secure the victory.
After making a huge impact on his first night in WWE, it will be exciting to see the former AEW star's journey in a completely different landscape.
