A former AEW champion who recently announced their retirement could make a return at Full Gear this Saturday and make a major announcement. The star has been away from TV for the past few months.
The AEW star in question is none other than 'Timeless' Toni Storm. The former All Elite Wrestling Women's World Champion has not been on TV since she lost her title to Mariah May at the All In 2024 event. Amid her absence from Tony Khan's promotion, Storm has been wrestling in Japan as well as Mexico.
Meanwhile, The Timeless One recently announced her retirement from wrestling in an interview. Toni stated that she has failed at everything as she lost in AEW, Japan, and Mexico and this would be the last time fans would hear from her. Furthermore, Storm also urged fans to enjoy Mariah May as champion and said that Tony Khan's promotion doesn't need Storm.
Considering Toni mentioned Mariah May being the champion in her retirement statement, this could all be a part of the storyline. Storm could surprise everyone by showing up at Full Gear during Mariah's championship celebration segment that has been announced for the pay-per-view this Saturday.
After interrupting May, Storm could call out The Glamour and challenge her to an All In 2024 rematch for the Women's World Title. Moreover, Mina Shirakawa will also be a part of the Full Gear segment and she could play a part in the story as well.
AEW President on Toni Storm announcing her retirement
AEW President, Tony Khan stated that Storm's statements regarding retirement are exaggerated as she is currently struggling. When asked about Storm's retirement announcement by Sportskeeda Wrestling during the Full Gear media call, Khan stated the following:
"Reports of her demise are greatly exaggerated. She's clearly struggling with what's happening and now she's lost."
Khan also said that Storm was here to stay in wrestling. Only time will tell whether Storm makes her return sooner rather than later.
