Rey Mysterio has been a huge influence on luchadors all around the world. Penta El Zero Miedo and Rey Fenix are two AEW stars who have been greatly influenced by the Master of the 619.

In an interview with Sports Illustrated, Penta spoke about how Rey Mysterio had a major influence on him and became his friend.

“Rey Mysterio has also had a major influence on me. He is one of the greatest wrestlers of all-time, a great person. Before, he was my idol. Now, he is my friend.”

Meanwhile, Penta’s young brother Rey Fenix has named Rey Mysterio as his favorite wrestler and has spoken about the influence the WWE Superstar has had on him.

“You know, Mysterio is one of my favorite luchadors. And of course I want to be like him. So, of course the first thing I take from him is the mask. The first time I put on my mask, it’s incredible. [It’s] almost like an explosion in your chest, and you feel like a superhero. That’s how the people look at you, like a superhero.”
