Ricochet should have NEVER left WWE

Ricochet is a popular name in professional wrestling. The high-flyer is best known for his stint in WWE, where he won the Intercontinental Championship and the United States Championship. He is also a former NXT North American Champion.

Earlier this year, the erstwhile Prince Puma left the Stamford-based company and signed with AEW. He made his debut appearance for the promotion at All In, where he participated in a Casino Gauntlet Match, receiving a thunderous reaction from the audience.

Initially, it looked like Tony Khan would turn the 36-year-old into a global star. But that hasn't been the case thus far. Hence, we feel that The Future of Flight should have stayed with WWE.

Why should Ricochet have stayed in WWE?

When it comes to in-ring skills and abilities, Ricochet is one of the best in the current day and age. He is agile, athletic, and immensely elegant. Unfortunately, the former RAW Superstar is not a supremely talented talker.

In professional wrestling, delivering promos is considered a work of art. Some of the greatest of all time are names such as CM Punk, John Cena, Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock, Chris Jericho, and more. Every wrestler can't be impeccable on the microphone. However, a talent's limitations can be hidden with good booking, limited mic time, and captivating storylines.

WWE did a brilliant job of hiding Ricochet's subpar promo-delivering skills. The creative team didn't allow him to speak too much and booked him in such a way that his in-ring skills could be highlighted. Additionally, the former US Champion was involved in better storylines under Triple H's creative regime compared to the ones Tony Khan is booking him in.

How can Tony Khan fix the Ricochet problem?

Tony Khan is well aware that the former WWE star is a brilliant wrestler. However, the company's roster is now bloated. There are way too many big names, and keeping the spotlight on all of them at once is simply not possible.

To make the signing of The Human Highlight Reel worthwhile, Khan has to make a few changes. The 36-year-old's current persona comes across as desperate and lame. Hence, that needs to go away. The AEW CEO should focus on long-term storytelling with the erstwhile Prince Puma.

Additionally, it will be best for both the wrestler as well as the promotion if he speaks as little as possible on the microphone. The talking needs to be done by a manager if Khan decides to pair Ricochet with one.

Dave Meltzer called Ricochet the "biggest geek in the world"

On last week's Dynamite, The One And Only was booked in a segment with The Hurt Syndicate in which he was humiliated by Bobby Lashley, MVP, and Shelton Benjamin.

Dave Meltzer spoke about this on Wrestling Observer Radio. He simply detested what he saw and said that it made the former WWE star look like ''the biggest geek.''

"I have no idea why he would ever want to do that segment; the Ricochet segment with The Hurt Business [Syndicate]. I have no idea why he would ever want to do that, ever, for any reason. This was like the worst week possible to do it because it's like, 'Ok, those guys, Will Ospreay and Ricochet are gonna go out there; this guy comes off like the biggest geek in the world,"' he said.

The Human Highlight Reel is a participant in the ongoing 2024 Continental Classic. It remains to be seen if he wins this tournament or not.
