Mercedes Mone had been in talks about having a popular star make her debut. These two were supposed to step in the ring together years ago.

Megan Thee Stallion is one of the most well-known rappers in the world. She has been delivering chart-topping hits for several years now. During her already impressive career, Megan has won numerous awards for her songs, making her one of the best-selling artists in the world.

Apart from dropping bangers, Megan Thee Stallion is a professional wrestling fan. She is also a fan of Mercedes Mone. PWInsider is reporting that there were expectations that Megan would team up with The CEO in AEW. These two women first came in contact with each other at the Crunchyroll Anime Awards due to their mutual admiration.

According to PWInsider, managers of both women kickstarted negotiations, and the two sides agreed to partner up, resulting in Mone publicly announcing the idea while promoting AEW All In.

There have been talks to get both women to work together as far back as 2021. This was when Mercedes was still with WWE. It is also being reported that after Mone went public with her idea, WWE made the deal to use Megan Thee Stallion's song Neva Play, which reportedly caught Mone and her team off guard. However, it isn't known if this deal with WWE could spell the end of Megan working with Mone and AEW.

Dutch Mantell criticized Mercedes Mone's promos

Ever since her blockbuster debut for AEW earlier this year, Mercedes Mone has struggled to live up to her huge contract. She has also been heavily criticized by fans and critics for her lackluster promo skills.

Speaking on his Story Time podcast, former WWE manager Dutch Mantell went as far as to say that he cringes when he hears Mercedes talk during interviews.

"Hey when [Mercedes] Mone does an interview, I cringe. I'm going, 'God, terrible'. It just looks like memorized and she just recites the lines and there's nothing between either one of 'em [Mercedes Mone & Britt Baker]. I much prefer Toni Storm and all the rest of those guys and Saraya because they at least put some life into it, Mone does nothing." [From 01:32:27 to 01:33:02]

Despite her perceived flaws, AEW has given her a strong push by making her the TBS Champion.
