Kenny Omega has returned to AEW after a near-career-ending bout with diverticulitis. The international wrestling star missed more than one year of in-ring action, and plans for several highly-anticipated matches had to be put on hold. Omega is set to have a massive 2025 as AEW is planning major matches.
The Best Bout Machine returned to the ring last weekend in Tokyo, Japan at Wrestle Dynasty, which was co-promoted by NJPW, AEW, ROH, CMLL, and Stardom. Omega defeated NJPW Strong Openweight Champion Gabe Kidd in a brutal 32-minute match, Omega's first bout in one year and one month. The All Elite EVP returned to Dynamite this past week but was interrupted by Don Callis, then attacked by Lance Archer, Brian Cage, and Kyle Fletcher, until Will Ospreay made the save. Dynamite ended with Omega and Ospreay facing off.
Kazuchika Okada and Omega are longtime rivals, and their first-ever All Elite match has been rumored for some time. Ahead of his recent ring return, Omega appeared at Worlds End to present Okada with his Continental Championship after winning the Continental Classic. The two then had a face-off, with the banner for All In: Texas conveniently hanging in the background. Word now is that All Elite Wrestling officials are planning Omega vs. Okada for this summer.

The Cleaner vs. The Rainmaker V is currently planned for All In: Texas, according to the Wrestling Observer. Okada won their first match in 2017, Omega won their third in 2017, and fourth in 2018. Okada retained in the second by time limit draw.
Tony Khan is hoping to feature his first Omega vs. Okada singles match on Saturday, July 12, but this will hinge on the inaugural World Trios Champion staying healthy and injury-free. The big event in Arlington, Texas will be the first-ever pro wrestling event at Globe Life Field.
Kenny Omega's AEW Dynamite return match set
Kenny Omega is set to return to the AEW ring next week. Dynamite will mark Omega's first match on All Elite Wrestling's flagship show since defeating Kyle Fletcher in October 2023.
Wednesday's Maximum Carnage edition of Dynamite will feature the first-ever Omega vs. Brian Cage singles match. The bout was confirmed after Will Ospreay saved Omega from The Don Callis Family this past week.
The Maximum Carnage Dynamite will be headlined by World Champion Jon Moxley defending in his hometown against Powerhouse Hobbs. Hook vs. Christian Cage is also confirmed, along with a Women's Casino Gauntlet to determine Mariah May's challenger for Grand Slam: Australia.
