AEW's video game, Fight Forever, disappointed a lot of people. As a result, the company is set to make a major change related to the same.
One of the biggest announcements made during the initial years of All Elite Wrestling was the news about AEW: Fight Forever, which was set to be the first major video game produced by Tony Khan's promotion. The game was developed by Yuke's and published by THQ Nordic and All Elite Wrestling.
The announcement excited fans since The Elite promised a similar gameplay style to 'WWF No Mercy,' considered one of the greatest wrestling video games in history.
Fight Forever was released on June 29, 2023. Unfortunately, the game missed the mark by a long shot and received mixed reviews on Steam. The game was released with many bugs that made it look like an unfinished product.
However, it appears as if AEW has not given up on its games division. According to a new report from Insider Gaming, All Elite Wrestling is looking to go with a new development partner after "nobody was really happy" with the release of Fight Forever.
It was also reported that there was a possibility that AEW could still go with Yuke's since they already have an understanding of the game's mechanics. A source within the company informed Insider Gaming that people in the promotion wanted another chance at the console game, but it all ultimately depends on Tony Khan.
AEW Fight Forever hasn't received a major update since July 2024
Despite the AEW Fight Forever's heavy price tag, the game was released with an underwhelming roster. The company promised more stars would be added later on as DLC.
Over the next few months, the game published many DLCs that introduced new characters – like Toni Storm, Swerve Strickland, and Samoa Joe, among others. However, all these DLCs had to be purchased separately which upset a lot of fans.
The latest DLC content released was the Switchblade Tournament Pack which included three new characters – Samoa Joe, Adam Copeland, and Jay White. This DLC was released on July 10, 2024. Since then, the company hasn't released any new DLC for the game.
It will be interesting to see whether All Elite Wrestling will sign off on another video game despite the poorly received Fight Forever.
