Additional context regarding an alleged backstage incident that occurred during AEW All Out last night has just surfaced. This explains the reason for security supposedly rushing to the back during one of the matches.
Some fans in attendance brought up how they saw some members of the security detail head backstage during the Chicago Street Fight between Willow Nightingale and Kris Statlander. At the time, the likes of Sean Ross Sapp, of Fightul, reported that this was nothing significant.
Earlier today during the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Bryan Alvarez gave the latest scoop on the situation. He mentioned that there was indeed an incident, and it was between an AEW star who was not booked on the match card and a member of the production team. This happened when they were shooting something backstage.
"So, before this match started, a bunch of security dudes just start sprinting backstage. So, what happened was apparently there was some incident with one of the wrestlers that wasn’t on this show, they were shooting something backstage, and this wrestler and a production guy got into a big thing."
He mentioned that despite this escalating, it seems that they were able to resolve things by talking it out. The arrival of security may have been simply precautionary at this point.
"Some people are saying it was absolutely nothing but it was big enough that security sprinted backstage. But I was told that whatever it was, they apparently talked it out and everything ended up ok." [H/T - WrestleTalk]
Why did a small backstage incident cause unrest among the AEW fans?
Some disputes backstage are unavoidable in a company, but when it is AEW, there is concern among many due to its history.
The promotion has had two major backstage scuffles. The first of these was the infamous Brawl Out incident back in 2022. This saw The Elite confront CM Punk after he made comments about them and other members of the locker room during the show's media scrum.
They entered his locker room and things escalated and got physical. Among those involved were Punk, his friend Ace Steel, Hangman Adam Page, The Young Bucks, and Kenny Omega. All those involved were suspended, and Steel was fired from the company.
Fortunately this year, the incident did not escalate and could have simply been a verbal misunderstanding between two members of the company. It remains to be seen whether more details regarding the incident will come to light.
