Another AEW star has reportedly departed from the company after Matt Hardy jumped ship to TNA.
The star in question is none other than Paige VanZant. PVZ made her AEW in-ring debut at the Double or Nothing 2022 event, where she teamed with Ethan Page and Scorpio Sky to defeat Frankie Kazarian, Sammy Guevara, and Tay Conti in a mixed trios match. However, VanZant has been absent since then, despite being on the roster page.
The former UFC fighter has been busy with other endeavors outside of MMA and pro wrestling. Meanwhile, Paige's time with AEW has perhaps come to an end. Recently, veteran wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Radio was asked whether VanZant is still under contract with Tony Khan's promotion, and he answered by saying the following:
"No, even though I know she's still on the roster. She's not with AEW anymore. She decided she didn't want to be a wrestler. If she wanted to be a wrestler she'd still be there." [H/T: Jack Cassidy on X]
Well, if the aforementioned report is to be believed, this marks another departure from Tony Khan's promotion in 2024 after the budget cut releases and Matt Hardy's exit. It remains to be seen if Paige will be removed from the All Elite roster page as well.
