A recent report revealed the backstage reaction in AEW to Tony Khan's tweet about John Cena and The Undertaker.
The recent edition of Dynamite was broadcast on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, which resulted in it going head-to-head with WWE NXT. Both companies pulled all the stops to win the rating war by delivering a compelling show for the fans, and NXT turned out to be victorious, as per reports.
Following the loss, Tony Khan took shots at the WWE Legends, who appeared during the NXT's broadcast. Khan posted the following on Twitter:
"This week, 2 active decades-long ratings streaks from 2 great legends were ended. With all due respect, until this week's head-to-head AEW on TBS vs WWE on USA, neither John Cena nor Undertaker had ever been on a WWE show with under 1 million total viewers + under 400k in the demo"
Per Fightful Select, Khan's tweet about John Cena and the Undertaker surprised many within the Jacksonville-based company, and it was reported that Tony Khan does not run his posts through Public Relations (PR).
Fightful Select also reported that there weren't any major concerns within the company with the tweet, and the only critical reactions received were from social media, where fans either found it inappropriate or funny.
The reports also talked about a source claiming it could be Tony's strategy to bring in more traffic to his profile as he went on to announce a series of matches for next week's show immediately after the tweet.
