Adam Copeland suffered an unfortunate injury at AEW Double or Nothing 2024. A new report has shed light on the reactions from talent and executives in All Elite Wrestling.

Copeland competed in a brutal Barbed Wire Cage Match at the sixth-annual Double or Nothing pay-per-view this past Sunday night. The Rated-R Superstar put everything on the line in his bout against Malakai Black and even got help from his old ally, Gangrel.

Although Copeland was able to hang onto his TNT Championship, he suffered a fractured tibia after leaping from the top of the cage late in the match. He's now out of action, and several AEW stars are prepared to duke it out for his vacant title.

PWInsider has reported that backstage reactions to Copeland's injury are universally sad and sympathetic. According to the report, the WWE Hall of Famer has become something of a mentor for the company's talent, and his absence leaves a significant void in the roster.

PWInsider also noted that Copeland owns the trademark for The Brood, which is why he was able to use the name during his entrance and match at Double or Nothing.

Adam Copeland addresses his injury at AEW Double or Nothing 2024

Many fans have been shocked by the consistency and quality of Adam Copeland's matches since his debut in AEW. The 50-year-old has been competing nearly every week lately, defending his TNT Championship in an open challenge series he calls the Cope Open.

Copeland was fully unleashed in his Barbed Wire Cage Match against Malakai Black at Double or Nothing, but it cost him dearly. He took to X/Twitter today and addressed his fractured tibia, confirming that he'll be out of action for several months:

"I've been feeling really good lately, been having so much fun in the ring, and I got c*cky. My brain forgets what my body always seems to remember a little late: that I'm 50, and I need to make better choices, so my body pulled the emergency brake on me the other night, and I ended up fracturing my tibia, which is gonna require surgery. I don't know the time frame on that yet. I'll find out the time frame next week, and I'll see you soon," he said.

It's unclear what Adam Copeland's plans were following his successful defense against Malakai Black, but he'll certainly have his pick of opponents when he returns from injury later this year.
