Current WWE name secretly held talks with AEW - Reports

According to the latest reports, a current WWE personality has secretly held talks with AEW. The popular star is set to leave the promotion.

Kayla Braxton recently announced that she will be leaving the Stamford-based promotion after SmackDown this week. This will bring an end to her eight-year run with WWE. Rumor has it that Braxton's contract expired recently, and she has since been working on a handshake deal. As is often the case with those in the wrestling industry, the 33-year-old backstage announcer has been heavily linked with a potential move to All Elite Wrestling.

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Radio recently reported that Kayla Braxton and AEW may have had talks, though there's no word on whether the two parties reached any agreement.

Braxton reportedly sees "the writing on the wall" for her in WWE:

"There definitely was talk between her and AEW. She was looking into other things as well. It was one of those things – I was told she could see the handwriting on the wall. They pretty much had decided that Cathy Kelley and Jackie Redmond were gonna be the two top ones. So she was number three. So I think by that, she kind of could see maybe it’s time to go somewhere else.” [H/T - Cultaholic]

With the AEW roster bloated with backstage announcers like Renee Paquette, Lexy Nair, and Alicia Atout, it will be interesting to see if Tony Khan will be willing to take on one more backstage personality.
