A top AEW star has been off television for the last few months after getting injured. New details have surfaced regarding his return.
The star in question, Jay White, is a household name in New Japan Pro-Wrestling, where he became the leader of Bullet Club and won many titles. After leaving NJPW in 2023, White signed with All Elite Wrestling and has been a big part of Collision. White has already competed for the World Championship and even won the World Trios Titles along with The Gunns. However, his run in the company came to screeching halt earlier this year when he injured his foot. The Switchblade last competed on July 6 edition of Collision where he lost to Hangman Adam Page.
During Fightul's latest Q&A sessions, Sean Ross Sapp was asked about Jay White's return status. He mentioned that the company expected him to return by All In and even had him checked out by the medical team on Dynamite the week before the event but he wasn't cleared to compete. They wanted to have White compete in the Casino Gauntlet match at the Wembley pay-per-view.
"AEW was hoping to have him back for AEW All In, but he went to AEW Dynamite the week before the trip over to the UK and he didn’t get cleared. His status hasn’t changed. They were hopeful he could do the Casino Gauntlet." [H/T Ringside News]
Rene Dupree urges AEW star Jay White to join WWE
Jay White turned a lot of heads when he joined All Elite Wrestling instead of WWE. Since his arrival in the promotion, he hasn't pushed nearly enough and has mostly competed on Collision instead of Dynamite.
Hence, while speaking on his Cafe de Rene podcast, Rene Dupree mentioned that it's not too late for him to join WWE.
"It's never too late. (...) I'm sorry Jay [White]. I don't mean to offend you but they were trying to quick fix because of Kenny Omega leaving. So they put the title on [Jay White]," Dupree said. [From 57:23 to 58:07]
It will be interesting to see when Jay White will finally make his return from injury. By the looks of it, that day might be nearing.
