A former Champion in AEW is set to leave the promotion soon due to frustrations and is expected to sign with WWE. The name in question is none other than Penta El Zero Miedo.
Penta El Zero alongside Rey Fenix are known as the Lucha Bros and have been a part of AEW since 2019 and are former World Tag Team Champions. Both men are reportedly WWE-bound once their All Elite contracts expire, however, some recent reports revealed that Tony Khan is looking to add injury time to Rey Fenix' contract which could tarnish the plans for the duo moving to the WWE as a Tag Team.
In a recent report by Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it was revealed that Penta's contract is set to expire in the next two months. WWE has made him a competitive offer and the highflyer is expected to negotiate with the promotion once he's a free agent.
"Penta’s AEW deal is up within the next two months. Officially the story that has to be said is that he has not negotiated with WWE, but will do so when his AEW deal expires. The word is that WWE made him a competitive offer, so that solidified his decision to leave. There are a lot of reasons leading to his decision to leave, including frustration." - WON
EC3 on AEW's Lucha Bros moving to the WWE
Penta and Rey Fenix (Lucha Bros) are expected to arrive in WWE once their AEW contracts expire. Ever since the reports of their potential debut emerged, Lucha Bros have been the talk of the town with many veterans and stars talking about how the group would do in the Stamford-based promotion.
In a recent edition of Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Outlaws podcast, former WWE star EC3 explained how Penta and Rey Fenix will have new presentations, challenges and a different audience in the WWE. He claimed that the duo will instantly become popular among kids due to their cool outfits.
"If you've done something for a long time and you seek a new challenge, it is a new challenge for them to go to the WWE, so different audience, different scheduling, different presentation. You know, probably has that intrigue. Money's probably really good. A marketing machine because, take wrestling away, they're both charismatic individuals with unique looks and outfits and gear and presentation, so immediately they look cool as action figures. They look cool to kids," he said. [2:16 – 2:49]
It will be interesting to see if The Lucha Bros debut on RAW or SmackDown or the company puts them on the NXT brand along with rumored Motor City Machine Guns.
