A former WWE champion is reportedly not expected back in AEW anytime soon. This will come as a big blow to Tony Khan and fans of the Jacksonville-based promotion.
There have been a lot of former WWE stars that have made All Elite Wrestling their new home and have gone on to shine. The likes of Jon Moxley and Bryan Danielson come to mind instantly. Despite the many successes, there have been some underwhelming signings and one of them is Malakai Black.
Black signed up with AEW in 2021 and many fans feel has had a rather underwhelming run. Despite his clear talent, he was only allowed to have run with the Trios Championship once. There were reports that his time with the company was coming to an end.

Fightful Select has now reported that Black’s time with AEW is done and that he was not expected to be back in the company. If this turns out to be ture, some feel it was a rather sad way for the former WWE star to end his AEW run.
WWE Hall of Famer Rob Van Dam wants to fight Malakai Black
Rob Van Dam is a wrestling legend and he has wrestled some absolute stars during his long and storied career.
Recently, he gave a token of appreciation to Malakai Black’s talent and said that he would love to face him in the ring. He was speaking on his 1 of a Kind podcast when he said:
“Yeah, he is [awesome]. I really like that dude’s style and his vibe. I like the way that he stands out as being different. I’m a big fan of that, so I don’t know. If I didn’t know any better, I would think RVD might have inspired him at one point. So proud of him without even knowing him. It’d be awesome to work with him.”
Given that Black is now on his way out of AEW, maybe there could be a chance for the two of them to face each other in WWE if he does move back to his old place.
