A top tag team is no longer heading to AEW according to recent reports. The team is none other than The Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin).

The Motorcity Machine Guns had talks with AEW in April 2024, however, in July, it was rumored that the duo is leaning towards signing with the WWE. It was reported recently that Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin are preparing to debut in the Stamford-based promotion soon and could show up at the CW Premiere of NXT on October 1.

Recently PWN Nexus revealed that Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin had talks with the Tony Khan-led promotion, however, they fell through after a short while.

AEW CEO Tony Khan recently praised The Motor City Machine Guns for competing at All Out 2022

On the All Out 2022 Pay-Per-View, The Motor City Machine Guns teamed with Jay Lethal to take on FTR and Wardlow in a Trios Match. In a recent chat with SHAK Wrestling, Tony Khan revealed that Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin's spots were meant for The Briscoes, however, he was unable to use them.

Tony Khan further praised and put over The Motor City Machine Guns for filling in for The Briscoes and helping the promotion at All Out.

"I was not able to use The Briscoes, I was not permitted to use Briscoes in that situation. I think it would have been great but the Motor City Machine Guns came in and really helped us at that time at being a part of the show when there was a spot that was intended for another great tag team, in my opinion the greatest tag team ever, 'The Briscoes,' and you needed somebody really strong, somebody very good to come in and help us, and that's where the Motor City Machine Guns did come in about two years ago and were a big part of All Out 22."

The Motor City Machine Guns are reportedly set to debut on CW Premier of NXT. It will be interesting to see if they actually show up in WWE soon.
